To the Christian Council of Korea (CCK),
I am Ashin Htavara, a General
Secretary of All Burmese Monks Representative Committee in Norway. I request that the Christian Council
of Korea stop its various forms of anti-peace activities that are being
conducted in the Republic of Korea. I am a living witness who has seen HWPL’s
passion for peace, their dedication without wanting anything in return, and
their sacrifice—and am committed to HWPL’s peace work myself. There is no
justifiable reason for HWPL to be disrupted or persecuted for their efforts for
peace. HWPL has gone around the world and pleaded for all to become messengers
of peace and work together. Inspired by such pleas, countless people including
myself are in support of HWPL. To hinder HWPL’s endeavors is to hinder HWPL
supporters like me who want nothing more than to achieve world peace with HWPL.
HWPL has become a pivotal point in opening an era of peace,
and is connecting all the people of the world across various fields of
politics, religion, society, and culture. Conversely, the CCK is causing only
divisions among people through disruption and persecution; no person of faith should
take such actions. If the issue is that HWPL does not carry the same beliefs as
the CCK, we should actually take part in the World Alliance of Religions’ Peace
Office together to discuss and compare which belief is more trustworthy. We
must make the effort to be united, rather than going against peace.
The Korean Peninsula is facing an unprecedented era of peace
and prosperity today. The realization of peace is a demand of this era, and it
has become a shared duty for us all. What would be the correct action to take
in such a time? Wouldn’t it be participation and cooperation in the work of
peace, rather than going against it with baseless slander and criticism? A person of faith, serving the will of God,
should discern what the heavens desire, understand the needs of the current
era, and dedicate one’s self to righteousness. I ask you to abide by such a
responsibility of a person of faith, just as HWPL is. Once again, I ask that
you stop the anti-peace activities you are committing today.
Best regards,
Ashin Htavara
